DAY 1: ARRIVAL AT KIGALI AIPORT 

On arrival at kigali international airport and after finalizing theformalities, you shall be welcomed by your guide. you will start your tour  with  a  city  tour  of  kigali  where  you  will  visit  a genocide museum and the history museum. you will also visit the kimironko market. later proceed to your hotel for an overnight.

DAY 2: DRIVE TO AKAGERA NATIONAL PARK, GAME DRIVE AND BOAT RIDE ON LAKE IHEMA, NIGHT GAME DRIVE

Kigali to Akagera National Park - Road transfer

After an early morning breakfast, you will drive to Akagera National Park which borders fine-looking rising and falling plains, solid broad-leafed forests, and brighter acacia woods that define its favorable nature to animals and visitors. you will do a game drive where you will spot mammals like giraffes,  buffaloes,  elephants,  crocodiles,  hippos  spotted, hyenas and masses of birds. in the afternoon have a boat ride on lake ihema. you will sail along the  water edge which  is covered with several trees, drift past numerous giant hippos and see several crocodiles some in the shallows of the water and other basking on the shore. later return to the lodge and prepare to go for a night game drive in the park.

DAY 3: GAME DRIVE & DRIVE BACK TO KIGALI

Akagera National Park to Kigali - Road transfer

Today you will have an early morning game drive in the park where you will spot mammals like giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, crocodiles, hippos spotted hyenas and masses of birds.  thereafter, you will  drive  back  to  kigali  for  an overnight.

DAY 4: DRIVE TO NYUNGWE FOREST NATIONAL PARK, HUYE MOUNTAIN COFFEE

Kigali to Nyungwe Forest - Road transfer

After breakfast you will drive to Nyungwe forest. Nyungwe forest national park protects the largest single tract of montagne forest remaining in Africa. it is a remarkably rich center of biodiversity, with 86 mammal species, 280 birds, birding site in Rwanda. huye mountain coffee. during a tour, you will be guided through the process of planting, growing and processing coffee beans. at the end of the tour you will have the opportunity to buy freshly roasted coffee as well as craft from local craftsmen.

DAY 5: COLOBUS MONKEY TREKKING IN NYUNGWE FOREST NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast you will go colobus monkey trekking in Nyungwe forest. Nyungwe forest national park protects the largest single tract of montagne forest remaining in Africa. Nyungwe national park is most treasured for its primates, there is a remarkable 13 primate species recorded resident in this lush rainforest. this includes numerous fun-loving troops of black and white colobus monkeys.

DAY 6: VISIT GISAKURA TEA PLANTATION, DRIVE TO LAKE KIVU

Nyungwe Forest to Lake Kivu - Road transfer

This morning we head to the Gisakura tea plantation. here you can take a walk in the tea plantation to admire the tea area and the impressive mountain landscape. they see farmers picking the tea and collecting it in Koerben - they are paid per kilo. then drive to the small town of Gisenyi, with its 70,000 inhabitants is located at the northern end of Lake Kivu, which is regarded  as  most scenic  lake  in the  central African grave  breach.  enjoy  the picturesque  sight,  see  the  huge  "mountain"  of  the  city  of  goma  (democratic republic of congo), the active Nyiragongo volcano (3.470 meters), and further east group of the Virunga volcanoes. traditionally, Gisenyi is a fashionable resort for Rwandan situation, the climate is almost mediterranean.

DAY 7: DRIVE TO VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK

Lake Kivu to Volcanoes National Park - Road transfer

You will have the morning at leisure while enjoying the beautiful views of Kake Kivu. thereafter, you will drive depart for Parc National des Volcanoes. the journey goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that show much of Rwanda’s landscape. continue to the cultural village of Ibyiwacu. The cultural village is helping the poor people, who in the past often lived only on bush meat hunting and survived tourism. in the culture village you can see the people, the culture and how they live. they also have the opportunity to see the eight traditional dances, listen to gorilla songs and see how they cook.

DAY 8: GORILLA TREKKING

After an early breakfast you will drive to Ruhengeri. you will experience the highlight of your trip by visiting the mountain gorillas of our planet in volcanoes national park where you will be led by an experienced ranger guide who will tell you interesting facts about the mountain gorillas

DAY 9: DRIVE TO KIGALI AND VISIT NYAMIRAMBO WOMEN’S CENTRE, DEPARTURE

Volcanoes National Park to Kigali - Road transfer

Today, you will drive back to kigali where you will visit the nyamirambo  women’s  centre  and  later  proceed  to  Kigali international airport for your flight back home.

  • All meals as specified in the itinerary (hotels in Arusha, Nairobi, Kampala or Entebbe are B&B)

  • Drinks as stipulated in itinerary

  • Accommodation as indicated in the itinerary

  • Water in the vehicle for overland sectors

  • All ground transportation and transfers as indicated, which are inclusive of fuel

  • Activities as indicated in the itinerary 

  • Game drives 

  • Ranger guide fees

  • Park, conservation and community bed night fees 

  • All applicable taxes, administration and banking fees

  • AMREF flying doctors’ emergency evacuation program

  • Gorilla and Chimpanzee permits per person as specified in the itinerary. 

    • Gorilla & Chimpanzee tracking is subject to availability of permits, which are limited to 8 per gorilla group per day and 6 per chimpanzee track per ½ day.

    • Any Gorilla and Chimpanzee permits required need to be paid for upfront when booking. As soon as funds clear in our account, we will go ahead and purchase.  

    • Gorilla and Chimpanzee permits cannot be held with the Uganda Wildlife Authority in advance of payment and Rwanda Development Board – they are only secured once physically paid for.

    • Gorilla and Chimpanzee permits are always 100% non-transferable and non-refundable.

    • There is a minimum age limit for gorilla tracking which is strictly 15 years. 

 

Price Excludes:

  • International flights and applicable airport departure taxes 

  • All passport and visa fees (Visa: US$ 50 per person for entry into Kenya – easily obtainable at the Airport) 

  • Meals not specified (including lunch and other meal stops between properties on overland sectors)

  • Drinks where not stipulated in itinerary

  • Items of a personal nature: fax, telephone, etc. 

  • Laundry in Entebbe/Kampala 

  • Gratuities for guide/driver/hotel staff 

  • Any extras and additional activities not mentioned in the itinerary 

  • Travel/medical insurance

  • Trip cancellation, travel delay or baggage insurance. 

  • Charges incurred as a result of delays beyond our control. 

  • All statutory increases beyond our control.

 

 

We reserve the right to amend the stated itinerary in response to unexpected changes in local conditions.

  

Quotations and Bookings for 2019: Tariffs quoted are valid for 2020 wherever possible.  Not all service providers release or guarantee their rates well in advance and therefore the itinerary cost is subject to increase.  Many factors may result in an increase of the cost of a safari itinerary and GoExplore Safaris is not liable to cover such increases.  Factors influencing cost increases include, but are not limited to, supplier increases (including gorilla permits and park / conservation fees), government tax increases and instatements, fuel increases, itinerary amendments, availability restrictions etc.  We will endeavor to provide as much notice as possible, and assure you that we will do all we can to prevent or limit any increases.

 

East Africa (Uganda. Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania) is a developing region, and whilst GoExplore Safaris endeavors to make the itinerary as accurate as possible, it should be considered as an approximate agenda of activities rather than a rigid schedule. Trip itineraries are subject to revision due to weather, trail conditions, government and local restrictions, animal movement and other reasons beyond our control. In addition, frequent reconnaissance of routes sometimes determines a better routing. We do our best to ascertain the most scenic and convenient route possible throughout our client’s safari with us.
